Rain does not have to mean cabin fever. Here are five art ideas we use at Big Crayon that need nothing more than a kitchen table and a few things from the recycling bin.

Try painting with sponges and cotton buds, making collages from torn magazine pages, printing with vegetables, drawing with wax crayons under watercolour, and building sculptures from cardboard tubes.

Cover the table with brown paper, put on an apron and let the mess happen. The best art is usually the one nobody planned.
